
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player plays as a striker in the San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) which is the highest division of women's soccer in the United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team from 2018 to 2020 with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. In the months following her graduation early from the University of California, Berkeley and playing for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. She made her debut in professional football and helped the team win the league title. Morgan was only 22 at the time, and was the youngest player on the national team at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. At the 2012 London Olympics she scored the game-winning goal in the 123rd minute of the semi-final against Canada. The 2012 season ended with 21 goals and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman who scored both 20 and 20 goals. It made her the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to reach 20 goals in one season. She was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was an FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan also helped the United States win their titles at the 2015 and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019.
